The Green Standard is facilitating development of Product Category Rules (PCRs) for the countertop and insulation industries, helping those manufacturers to move forward in developing product LCAs and, ultimately, Environmental Product Declarations. We have brought together a number of stakeholders from these industries to work together to establish the “rules of the road” for developing product life cycle assessments (LCAs) in their industry, assuring all participating manufacturers of a level playing field. This is a valuable first step in supporting manufacturers in adopting global best practices in product eco-design and evaluation.
PCR Comment - Insulation Materials
As best practices suggest, The Green Standard will be utilizing existing Product Criteria Rules that have been developed under other recognized EPD systems with as little amendments as deemed necessary. The idea, promulgated in the ISO 14025 standard, is to try to keep harmony between the declarations and allow for as much comparability between PCRs and systems as possible.
In light of this, a request has been made to adopt the following:
Norwegian EPD Foundation, Product Category Rules (PCR), for preparing an environmental declaration (EPD) for Product Group, Insulation Materials, NPCR012
Comment Period: Closes October 16
