The Green Standard is managed by a Board of Directors representing diverse stakeholder groups: educational institutions, government, industry, not for profit entities and professional service firms.
Deborah Dunning is the public voice of The Green Standard and speaks with passion about the importance for each one of us to become engaged in making “choices for the environment”. Her work is focused on bringing individuals and institutions together to create education, technology and training to support product eco-design, certification and purchase. She attended Sweet Briar College and the University of London as an undergraduate and completed a M.S. at Simmons College with graduate courses at Harvard University. To prepare for the work of The Green Standard, Deborah participated in graduate level studies in life cycle assessment at North Carolina State University. She has served on stakeholder councils developing sustainable product assessment standards, including those created by the Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association and the Carpet & Rug Institute. Additionally, Deborah has been a member of the “LCA into LEED” workgroup of the U.S. Green Building Council and a workgroup member of the Life Cycle Initiative of the UN Environment Program.
